A delegation from the Research and Graduate Affairs met the Minister of Agriculture

A delegation from the Research and Graduate Affairs at the Islamic University of Gaza met   his Excellency Eng. Ali Al-Tarshawi- Minister of Agriculture. The IUG delegation included Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shabat - Vice-President of the Islamic University for Research and Graduate Affairs, accompanied with Prof. Dr. Fouad El-Ajez - Assistant Vice President for Research and Graduate Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Nizam Al-Ashgar- Assistant Vice President for Research and Graduate Affairs.

They were greeted by, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Qedra - Assistant Undersecretary of the southern provinces, Eng. Saleh Bakhit- Assistant Undersecretary of natural resources, and Eng. Adel Atallah - Director General of Fisheries.

Excellency Eng. Al- Tarshawi confirmed on the depth of the relationship that binds the ministry with university by holding joint programs and activities. In addition, Excellency Eng. Al- Tarshawi valued IUG’s orientation towards establishment of Agriculture faculty so as to contribute to the development of the agricultural capabilities of staff, and the creation of agricultural development, based on concrete scientific basis. Furthermore, Excellency Eng. Al- Tarshawi expressed the ministry's willingness for joint cooperation with IUG, thus providing job opportunities for graduates from the disciplines of agriculture, biotechnology, environment and others in order to strengthen the spirit of competition and excellence among students.

From his part, Prof. Shabat thanked Excellency Eng. Al- Tarshawi on the kind reception and hospitality and the prompt response for the meeting. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Shabat presented IUG’s interest of the establishment of Agriculture faculty. Furthermore, he discussed with Eng. Al- Tarshawi opportunities for graduates of IUG that to have employment opportunities in the ministry.

Prof. Dr. Shabat was agreed with Excellency Eng. Al- Tarshawi the need to form a joint committee between IUG and the ministry to identify research priorities in the field of agriculture, in order to guide the research and studies toward those priorities, and it was agreed on mutual cooperation and exchange of expertise and access to facilities of university and ministry to serve the scientific research, which will benefit the community development.
